Ian Burn, former Club Captain and Chairman and one of our earliest members, has written
a graphic account of the club's first ten years entitled: "The Rother Valley Croquet
Club: The First Decade" (ISBN: 978-0-9564907-0-4).
This attractive little volume covers in detail the ten years which followed the club's
inauguration at Duncton on May 20, 2000, when former world champion John Solomon,
assisted by Bill Arliss, officially opened our two new lawns there in their glorious
situation on a disused football field. It was published in time for our Tenth Birthday
celebrations on May 22, 2010. A preliminary chapter describes the club's informal
beginnings in Fittleworth village, which grew out of a brief article in the parish
magazine in April 1994.
